MUTUAL SOLVENTS

INTRODUCTION
Insoluble formation fines pick up organic film from crude oil. These particles are partially oil-wet and partially water-wet. This causes them to collect at any oil-water interface which can cause an emulsion. Mutual solvents remove organic films leaving them water wet, thus emulsions and particle plugging are eliminated.

OILAID-MS-1

Liquid, soluble in oil, acid, and water, used in all types of acids. It serves as a wetting agent, demulsifier, and an interfacial tension reducer. Insoluble formation fines have a tendency to pick up an organic film from crude oil and other materials present. Because these fines tend to be partially oil wet and partially water wet, they gather at the acid/oil interface, and serve as emulsifying agents. They can be transported to pores where they can cause plugging Þ and a reduction in permeability. OILAID-MS-1 provides a solvent action which removes the organic film, leaving them water wet. This reduces the tendency to emulsify, and plug formation pores. OILAID-MS-1, as with most mutual solvents, has a detrimental effect on acid corrosion inhibitors, causing high inhibitor loadings to become necessary. Loading is typically 10% (by vol.) in the treating acid, although lab pilot testing is recommended for best results.

OILAID-MS-2

Micellar solution for use in acid well cleanout and stimulation treatments. OILAID-MS-2 provides excellent interfactial and surface tension reduction. OILAID-MS-2 converts the acid to a micellar system which has several advantages: 1) Water wetting 2) Demulsification 3) Water block removal 4) Solids suspension and dispersancy 5) Non-emulsification. OILAID-MS-2 has many applications from removal of skin damage to a penetrating fluid for removal and dispersion of paraffin and asphaltene deposits in the formation. Loadings range from 3 to 10% by volume of acid.

OILAID-MS-3

OILAID-MS-5

A mutual solvent for acid in workover and stimulation treatments of oil and gas wells, as well as injection and disposal wells. OILAID- MS-5 is run at low concentrations compared to products offered by other companies. In addition, it contains no EGMBE, reduces surface tension, and helps restore production capacity in oil wells and injectivity to injection wells. OILAID-MS-5 is a blend of specialty additives and solvents that has been designed for use in a variety of fluids including acid stimulation systems, brine stimulation systems, hydrocarbon-based systems, as well as for the removal of skin damage at or near the face of the wellbore in producing and injection wells. OILAID-MS-5 provides increased water-wetting, water block removal, solids suspension and dispersancy, and non-emulsification. Typically loaded at 5% by volume of the treating fluid.
